The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.- Sir William Osler
Routine health care
Good health is more than just the absence of disease. Our physicians are trained to provide the best in natural family medicine to men, women, and children. We see patients with minor ailments, serious illnesses, and everything in between.
Women’s health is a distinct field that takes into account the unique biological, hormonal, and emotional needs of women of all ages. This includes routine gynecological exams and laboratory testing, and referrals for health screenings including bone density, ultrasound and mammography.
Men’s health is a distinct field that takes into account the unique biological, hormonal, social, and emotional needs of men of all ages. This includes routine annual examinations, laboratory testing, and referrals for age-appropriate health screening tests.
We love our babies and children! Our physicians (especially Dr. Amanda Levitt) are passionate about helping you instill healthy habits in your children from a young age to build the foundation for a lifetime of good health. We offer routine checkups, age-appropriate screens and laboratory testing and natural treatment options for common childhood conditions.
Although we are trained to treat illness…it’s always better to prevent it before it starts! We prefer to be proactive rather than reactive and that’s why we put such a heavy emphasis on preventative medicine. Of course, we can do routine annual physicals, screening examinations, and offer referrals for laboratory testing…but we’ll also go beyond the basics with you. We’ll get to know you, your family history, and the risk factors that are unique to you as a person. Then, we’ll help you get inspired to make the most important diet and lifestyle changes you need to make to keep you healthy for the long term.
Our office maintains accounts with a large number of clinical laboratories. We can order basic laboratory tests for screening purposes or for diagnosis of illness using blood, urine, or stool samples. When appropriate, we can also go beyond the typical laboratory tests and order a wide range of advanced and progressive clinical lab tests that can often help make a diagnosis in challenging cases.
This ancient Chinese medical practice has moved West…and is booming in popularity here in the US. Dr. Robin Ritterman and Dr. Matt Fisel are both skilled in the use of acupuncture needles for the treatment of a variety of medical problems, especially the relief of musculoskeletal or orthopedic pain.
Over 2000 years ago Hippocrates said, “Let food be thy medicine…” and we still believe him. We will take a detailed dietary history, including your personal food preferences and get you started on a diet/nutrition plan that works for you and your lifestyle. If your unique situation calls for nutritional supplementation, we will make specific recommendations for vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements as part of your treatment plan.
All of our physicians are experts in the use of medicinal plants. We regularly use herbal medicines as treatments for a wide range of medical problems. Our office is home to a large dispensary of medicinal herbal extracts that are the “tools of the trade” for our doctors.
We see patients every day with musculoskeletal or orthopedic pain. Some of them come to us at the first sign of problem, others come to us after multiple surgeries have failed to relieve the pain. In either case, physical medicine can help. This involves “hands-on” techniques like: myofascial release, trigger point release, facilitated stretching, and spinal manipulation or adjustments.
News flash: Smoking is bad for you. That part, you already knew. What you might not have known is that we can help. There are a variety of tools and techniques (including a specific form of acupuncture) that we use to help our patients kick the habit for good.
Sadly, we live in a toxic world. Every day, we are exposed to hundreds of synthetic chemicals that can have an adverse impact on our health. The good news is that all of us have an exquisitely complex built-in detoxification factory inside of us. If chemical or environmental toxicity is making you sick…we can help you identify the problem and fire up your internal detoxification system to get your health back on track.
Does stress make your symptoms worse? If you’re anything like the thousands of patients we see at Whole Health, the answer is yes. In fact, for many people, emotional stress is a primary concern. You should feel comfortable talking with your doctor about the stresses in your life…and when you do, we can help you develop a safe and effective natural stress management plan.
